The Success of the Rizal Youth Program

Buhay Rizal: Commemorating the Life of an EXTRAORDINARY Filipino
“My hero…Today and Tomorrow”

YGC successfully staged its offering for the 150th birthday celebration of Dr. Jose Rizal, the Rizal Youth Program, a week-long series of intellectual and artistic competitions where students from YGC’s 22 partner schools in Metro Manila (click here for list of partner schools). showcased their talents. The competitions were held from June 27-July 1, 2011 at two venues - the Yuchengco Museum at the RCBC Plaza where an exhibition on Jose Rizal was ongoing, and at the RCBC Courtyard also at the RCBC Plaza in Makati. This program aims to reach out to the Filipino youth whom Rizal referred to as the “Hope of our Fatherland”.  

Rizal, together with his values and love for our country, was commemorated in the eyes of the youth through the following activities:

This contest was sponsored by RCBC Savings Bank(RSB) and was participated in by 22 contestants from 22 YGC partner schools in Metro Manila. To give support to the contestans, ARSB Officers and Staff headed by EVP Emmy Chavez were present during the event. The theme of the contest "ANG GALING NG PINOY, KAYA MONG IPAGMALAKI SA BUONG MUNDO". The winners are:

This contest was sponsored by BANKARD and all 22 YGC partner schools in Metro Manila were represented. VP Ping Reyes and the rest of the Bankard officers supported the event. The theme of the contest was “SI RIZAL BILANG AKING BAYANI NGAYON, BUKAS AT SA DARATING NA PANAHON”. The winners are:

Sponsored by GREPALIFE FINANCIAL, this contest was participated in by 22 contestants from 22 YGC partner schools in Metro Manila. Grepalife President Victor Quisumbing delivered his welcome remarks with humor that captivated the audience. Several Grepalife officers and staff were also present during the event. The theme of the contest was “PAANO MO ISINASAGAWA O ISINASAKATUPARAN ANG ANIM NA MAHAHALAGANG ARAL NA PINAPALAGANAP NG PROGRAMANG BUHAY RIZAL”. The winners are:

This contest was sponsored by HONDA CARS and was participated in by 22 contestants from 22 YGC partner schools in Metro Manila. Honda Cars General Manager Gene de Jesus led the Honda Group in ensuring the success of the event. Questions on the quiz touched on the Life, Works and Teachings of Dr. Jose Rizal. The winners are:

The Deped Divisions in QC, Manila and Mandaluyong had to conduct elimination round in their respective divisions in order to bring down the number of finalists to 10. Malayan Insurance sponsored this event and several of its officers were present to support the event. The winners are:

Contest: SAYAW - AWIT CONTEST (view pictures)
Venue: RCBC Courtyard, RCBC Plaza
Date: July 1, 2011
Time: 5:00 p.m.

Similar to the Extemporaneous Speaking Contest, an elimination round likewise had to be conducted in the QC, Manila and Mandaluyong Divisions of DepEd. This contest was the most exciting, most colorful and the most exhilarating among all the other contests. All competing groups brought their colorful costumes together with their props and everyone was so eager to watch the performance of their contender. This contest was sponsored by RCBC and several of its officers came to support the event headed by FVP Joee Guilas who served as the emcee of the event. An impromptu award was also given to the best Rizal look-a-like who received P2,000 and awarded by YGC CSI COO & EVP Liwayway F. Gener. The winning groups were:
