Rizalian Books Program

What better way to educate our youth about the works of Rizal than to have them read his immortal classic, the Noli Me Tangere. The Noli became the catalyst that woke up the consciousness of the Filipino people against the abuses of our colonizers that eventually led to the Philippine revolution.

Because of its historical value, this book has become a required reading material for 3rd year high school students. The sad reality, though, is that a significant number of students in public high schools cannot afford to get hold of a Noli Me Tangere book because of financial constraints. To address this dilemma, YGC came up with a “book donation” campaign, called the Rizalian Books Program, where YGC donated Noli Me Tangere books to selected deserving public high schools all over the country. As a result of this program, more public high schools students can now use the book as their own for one year and experience re-living the values and teachings of Rizal. This likewise lessens the burden of our less fortunate public high school students.

In 2009, YGC partnered with 22 public High Schools in Metro Manila for the donation of 20,200 Noli Me Tangere books in partnership with the Department of Education.

Forthcoming Campaigns

For the coming years, more public high schools will stand to benefit from the book donation campaign.  Fund-raising activities are currently ongoing to raise funds for books to be donated from 2012-2014, the next phase of the program.
