December 30, 2009 - Dr. Jose Rizal’s Death Anniversary in Batangas City

YGC commemorated the Death Anniversary of our National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, last Dec. 30, 2009 in Batangas City.

Together with the City Government, YGC offered a wreath on the occasion.

Representing YGC were YGC Council Head Carol Catipan, Nonoy Ebora and RCBC Consultant Efren Acuña.

YGC Commemorates the Death Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal in Iloilo City

YGC commemorated the death anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal in Iloilo City last Dec. 30, 2009.

Spearheading YGC in honoring our National Hero was YGC Council Head Raymond G. Miñoso.

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas welcomed the participation of YGC in the event that included a wreath laying.  Balloons were released not only to remember Rizal’s heroic death but also to recognize his contributions to the Filipino race.

December 29, 2009 - YGC Turns Over The Newly Refurbished Rizal Shrine In Bacolod City

Last December 29, 2009, YGC through RCBC Savings, formally turns over the newly refurbished Rizal Shrine in Bacolod City to Honorable Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia.

RCBC Savings, the sponsoring company, was represented by EVP Emy Chavez and SVP Al Jan Yap. FVP Joey Ledesma was also present together with the local YGC Council and other YGC Officers and employees. The Bacolod City Council, Department Heads and the Knights of Rizal were also in attendance. 

Activities included the unveiling of the refurbished Rizal shrine, wreath laying and the evening ended with a fireworks display, signifying the partnership of YGC and Bacolod City, that awed everyone present during the event.

October 27, 2009 - YGC to donate Noli Me Tangere books to Batangas National High School

Last October 27, 2009, YGC agreed to the donation of around 2,159 Noli Me Tangere books to Batangas  National High School through a Memorandum of Agreement as part of the Buhay Rizal Values Campain. The donation will be sponsored by EEI and the books will be delivered in time for School Year 2010 – 2011.

October 15, 2009 - YGC, through RCBC, to donate Noli Me Tangere books to Iloilo City National High School in time for School Year 2010 – 2011

YGC has agreed to the donation of more than 1,209 Noli Me Tangere books to Iloilo City National High School with RCBC as the sponsor company. The MOA signing last Oct. 15, 2009 was attended by the Principal of Iloilo City National High School, Mrs. Josephine Agudo. Mayor Jerry P. Trenas was represented by Executive Assistant Matilde Octavio. DepEd Superintendent Dr. Erlinda G. Gencaya and YGC Local Council Head, Mr. Raymond Miñoso, were also present during the event together with other YGC Officers.

October 6, 2009 - YGC To Donate Noli Me Tangere Books To Davao City National High School For School Year 2010

Last October 6, 2009, Ms. Melay Santiago, YGC Council Head in Davao City, spearheaded the ceremonial MOA signing with Davao City National High School as part of our Rizalian Books Program in the provinces.

YGC is set to donate 1,822 Noli Me Tangere books to Davao City National High School in time for School Year 2010.

In attendance during the MOA signing were  officers and staff of Grepalife, Great Life Financials, Malayan, RCBC Unibank and RCBC Savings Bank. 

Principal Victorina B. Jacinto, was represented by the OIC of the School, Pilipino District Supervisor and witnessed by 10 3rd Year HS Faculty members.

August 6, 2009 - Mapua Institute of Technology Turns over Noli Me Tangere Books To New Era High School

YGC, through Mapua Institute of Technology, donated 915 Noli Me Tangere books to New Era High School last August 6, 2009.

Present were Mapua President, Dr. Reynaldo Vea and other employees.

Principal Levita Ramos received the donation in behalf of the school. The high school students provided entertainment with a dance number.

August 4, 2009 - Malayan Insurance Donates Noli Me Tangere Books To Jose P. Laurel High School

Last August 4, 2009, Malayan Insurance donated Noli Me Tangere books to Jose P. Laurel HS as part of our Buhay Rizal Books Program. MICO President, Ms. Yvonne S. Yuchengco, was on hand to personally turnover the books together with other officers and employees.

Dr. Luningning Milan, the High School Principal, received the books in behalf of the students. Jose P. Laurel High School is the 13th recipient-school of the Noli Me Tangere books.

August 3, 2009 - Malayan Colleges - Laguna Contributes To Buhay Rizal And Donates More Than 300 Noli Me Tangere Books

Malayan Colleges - Laguna donated more than 300 Noli Me Tangere books through the generosity of Professor James Ronald Mesina (not in photos), Director of the Community Service and Relations Office and concurrently Head of the Social Sciences under the College of Arts and Science.

YGC CSI AVP Ann Tolentino received the donation together with Mr. Revie Quinquito.

July 30, 2009 - YGC Donates Noli Me Tangere Books To Ramon Magsaysay High School

YGC, through AVP Felix Sinconegue of Bankard, turned-over Noli Me Tangere books to Ramon Magsaysay High School last July 30, 2009.

The books were received by the school Principal, Dr. Josefina Perlado. The high school students provided entertainment through a song and dance number.

July 23, 2009 - YGC Donates Noli Me Tangere Books To Camp Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo HS

YGC through House of Investments, the sponsor company, officially turnovers 450 Noli Me Tangere books to Camp Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo HS last July 23, 2009.

Present during the event were Sonia Villegas (HI), Daniel Francisco (People E Serve), Angelique Marcos and Irma Japson, both from Malayan Leasing, together with other YGC employees.

School Principal Daisy Viernes was very thankful of the donation and likewise, the students showed their gratitude through a rap song they themselves composed.

July 13, 2009 - PUP Receives Their Noli Me Tangere Books

Last July 13, 2009, YGC through EVP Liway F. Gener and RCBC’s Deo Jacinto, the sponsor company, together with other YGC officers, turnover the Noli Me Tangere books to  3rd Yr. High School students of PUP through their Principal Corazon Tajil.

The program included an educational lecture from DepEd Supervisor Romela Cruz on the values of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.

EVP Liway F. Gener, an alumnus of the school, provided an inspirational speech focusing on hard work, dedication and achievement of one’s dream that are all considered as Rizalian values and should be practiced by the students.

July 9, 2009 - RCBC Turns over Noli Me Tangere Books To Don Quintin Paredes High School

Don Quintin Paredes HS is the 5th recipient public high school that RCBC, the sponsor company, has donated the Noli Me Tangere books. 

Present was RCBC’s Deo Jacinto and his team of officers. 

The ceremony was held last July 9, 2009 at the school grounds and was also witnessed by DepEd supervisors and officials. 

The books were received by the school Principal Janet Diono.

July 4, 2009 - BUHAY RIZAL ON AIR

Happy Talk, hosted by Caloy Atayde, had YGC officers YGC CSI EVP Liway F. Gener, PIAA’s Jessie Gimenez and RCBC Savings’ Pat Picazo as guests to discuss the Buhay Rizal Values Campaign last July 4, 2009. 

EVP Liway Gener discussed the overall thrust of the campaign highlighting the social responsibility of YGC by emulating the values of our hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. 

Jessie Gimenez and Pat Picazo also provided insights to the campaign mainly focusing on the 6 core Rizal values and how these are cascaded amongst the YGC employees. 

The show ended with the Happy Dance. Airing was on the same day around 7 pm and had a re-run at 10 pm. Under Destiny Cable Channel 7.

July 2, 2009 - YGC Donates Noli Me Tangere Books To Quezon City High School

Quezon City High School, the oldest public high school in the city, received their Noli Me Tangere Books last July 2, 2009 from YGC through RCBC, the sponsor company. 

YGC was represented by the RCBC’s Deo Jacinto and Arsenio Chua together with other RCBC officers. 

Receiving the books were the principal Diego Amid and the high school students who thanked YGC through a song.

June 30, 2009 - RCBC Turns over 2,640 Noli Me Tangere Books To Batasan Hills National High School

With the most number of 3rd high school students among the Buhay Rizal recipient schools, YGC through RCBC donates 2,640 Noli Me Tangere books Batasan Hills National High School last June 30, 2009. 

RCBC was represented by Deo Jacinto and Bobby Rodriguez together with other officers. The school principal, Dr. Gil Magbanua and other DepEd officials, accepted the books.

June 26, 2009 - National Bookstore Welcomes YGC

The youthful smile of the 84 year old National Bookstore owner, Ms. Socorro Ramos, says it all. Though wearing an arm cast due to a recent injury, she graciously welcomed Ann Tolentino and Bobby Suratos of YGC CSI in a courtesy call and during the visit expressed her gratitude to YGC for the Buhay Rizal Values Campaign. 

Ms. Ramos even donated 200 Noli MeTangere books to help the cause. With her was the Marketing Manager for Anvil Publications, Ms. Gwen Galvez, that mass produced the books.

June 23, 2009 - RCBC Delivers Promise Of Noli Me Tangere Books To Victorino Mapa High School

In a morning filled with anticipation and a hope that every 3rd year high school student in V. Mapa High School will receive a copy of the Noli Me Tangere book, YGC through RCBC officially donates 1,105 books to these deserving students. 

RCBC FVP Joey Ledesma and VP Karen Saria together with other officers and staff hands-over the Noli books last June 23, 2009 as part of our Buhay Rizal Values Campaign. 

Receiving the donations were DepEd and V. Mapa HS Officials and of course, the students of the school.

June 19, 2009 - Dr. Jose Rizal’s Birthday Commemorated In Iloilo City

Through a ceremonial wreath offering, the birthday of Dr. Jose Rizal was commemorated on June 19, 2009 in Iloilo city. Spearheading the affair was Mr. Raymond G. Miñoso, Local YGC Council Head, together Mr. Francis Cruz, Executive Assistant to Mayor Treñas. 

YGC was well represented by Francis Ramos, Ma. Victoria Jarantilla, Peter Artates, Raymond Tan and Ma. Belle Zaragoza, all from RCBC. Also present from RSB were Raymond Nobleza and Ivan Arriola. Mr. Roger De Pedro Jr. of MICO also attended the affair.

June 19, 2009 - Baguio City Commemorates RIZAL’s Birthday

The Local YGC Council in Baguio City headed by Mr. Rolly De Guzman together with the Local Gov’t. Unit representatives commemorated the birth of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal on June 19, 2009 at shrine grounds. 

Mr. Alex Y. Cham, RCBC SVP, and City Councilor Galo D. Weygan together with groups, Free & Accepted Masons and Kababaihan Rizalista offered a wreath as part of the celebration. 

Also present during the event were Dan Diaz (RCBC), Lorna Marcos (RCBC), Ian Manrique (MICO), Omar Belmi (GPL), Jones Moral (Greatlife), and Johann Santiago (Greatlife).

June 19, 2009 - Dr. Jose Rizal’s Birthday Commemorated In Batangas City

Batangas City Mayor Eduardo B. Dimacuha together with Local YGC Council Head, Efren A. Acuña spearheaded the commemoration of Rizal’s birthday on June 19, 2009 in Batangas City. 

The affair started with a parade and was capped of with the ceremonial wreath laying honoring our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. The Knights of Rizal also took part in the offering. 

Also present to grace the event were Larry Inciong (MICO), Leslie Sanchez (RCBC), Roberlyn Natividad (GPL), Carol Catipon (RSB), Mercy Mangubat (RSB), and Maribel Ozaeta (RSB).

March 12, 2009 - Turn over of Davao Shrine

Headed by Malayan President Yvonne S. Yuchengco, the newly refurbished Rizal shrine was officially turns over to Davao City through Vice Mayor Sara Duterte on March 12, 2009. 

Present during the ceremony were EVP Sonny Rubin, the Local YGC Council and YGC employees. Likewise, local government officials and the Knights of Rizal and other distinguished guests were all present to grace the affair. 

The ceremony ended with the releasing of the “Doves For Peace” to symbolize the dream of unity in the region.

March 2, 2009 - Iloilo Computer Donation

In an effort to assist government schools in its educational drive, the Yuchengco Group of Companies recently donated 100 personal computers to the city government of Iloilo in cooperation with the Department of Education-Iloilo City. The donation intended to benefit students in 10 secondary schools, namely: Melchor L. Nava National High School; Jalandoni Memorial National HS; Fort San Pedro National HS; R.G. Hechanova Memorial National High School; SPED-ISEC; Mandurriao National HS; La Paz National HS; Jaro National HS; Bo. Obrero National HS; and Iloilo City National HS. This activity is an offshoot of the YGC’s ongoing “Buhay Rizal” campaign which seeks to help instill the values of Dr. Jose P. Rizal and inspire greatness in the modern Filipino. 

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas presented the Certificate of Appreciation to YGC represented by Mr. Raymund Miñoso. 

Also present in the turnover ceremonies were RCBC Savings Bank’s Retail Banking Group Head Emy Chavez, Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Erlinda G. Gencaya, school board members and student-beneficiaries.

February 26, 2009 - Turn over of Batangas Shrine

Bankard President Mr. Oscar B. Biason together with Mr. Rafael Reyes, Mr. Felix Sincoñegue and YGC Council Batangas Head Efren Acuña of RCBC officially turns over the refurbished Jose Rizal shrine to Mayor Eduardo Dimacuha in Batangas City. 

The ceremony started around 8:30 am on Feb. 26 with performances from the Alangilan Elementary School Band and Dangal ng Lungsod Batangal Chorale. 

The turn over included a ceremonial wreath offering symbolizing respect for our National Hero and was capped-off with the traditional balloon releasing.

February 12, 2009 - Baguio Flowerpark

Last February 12, 2009, in a simple but meaningful ceremony, Mr. Rolly B. De Guzman, RCBC Consultant and Local YGC Head, formally turned-over to the City of Baguio the newly refurbished Baguio Flower Park Level 1 through Mayor Reinaldo Bautista, Jr. 

On hand to witness the turn over were Mr. Emmanuel Rillo, Member of the Bishop's Cup Foundation; Mr. Orly De La Cuesta, President of Victoria Sto. Tomas Dev. Corportion; and Bishop Carlito J. Cenzon, Diocese of Baguio and Head of Burnham Park Fencing Project.

Decenber 30, 2008 - Turn over of Iloilo Shrine

Grepalife headed by no less than their President and CEO Victor P. Quisumbing turns over the newly renovated Jose Rizal shrine to the people of Iloilo City through their Hon. City Mayor Jerry P. Trenas assisted by Hon. City Vice-Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog at Plaza Libertad on December 30, 2008 to commemorate the 112th Death Anniversary of our National Hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal. 

YGC was well represented by Jessie John Gimenez, Daryl Adique, Allan Ruiz, Ranz Apolinario, Adrian Romero, Ramon Gonzales, Peter Artates, Raymond Nobleza and Ivan Arriola. Dressed in Filipiniana were Vicky Jarantilla, Nimfa Gregorios, Emlyn Tan, Leda Totesora and Raymond Minoso. 

The affair was highlighted by the unveiling and blessing of the refurbished Rizal Shrine and the YGC – Buhay Rizal marker. 

Mr. Quisumbing likewise, through his speech, shared insights on the importance of YGC’s Values Campaign for Buhay Rizal and encapsulated the significance of Dr. Jose Rizal in modern times. 

Performances from the Jaro Evangelical Church Choir and La Paz National High School Dance Group gave flare to the program. 

This successful YGC momentous occasion was witnessed by over 200 people coming from various sectors.

December 18, 2008 - Turn over of Baguio Shrine

On Dec. 18, 2008, RCBC President Lorenzo V. Tan together with EVP Ismael Sandig and SAVP Alexander Cham formally turns over the newly refurbished Jose Rizal Shrine to the people of Baguio City through their Mayor Reynaldo A. Bautista and Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas. Several members of Local Gov’t. Units were also present to witness the ceremony. 

Likewise, various organizations such as Knights of Rizal, Kababaihang Rizal, Baguio Masonic Lodge No. 67, La Trinidad Lodge No. 344, Baguio Jaycees and BCNHS Cadet Corps, Choir and Band attended the ceremony. 

Shortly after the traditional balloon release segment, the program was capped by socials at the grounds of the shrine.

December 2, 2008 - MOA signing in Davao

In jeans, checkered polo and rubber shoes, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte arrived at the Marco Polo Hotel last December 2, 2008 for the Ceremonial Signing of Davao Rizal Shrine with the Yuchengco Group of Companies. 

"As you can see, I am not dressed for the occassion", Mayor Duterte jokingly mentioned. He promised to make it for the MOA signing as he came from serious negotiations with the NPA's for the release of thier recent captives. Nevertheless, he was there to meet and welcome YGC in Davao. 

In the mood, Mayor Duterte delivered a profound and inspiring speech on the importance of Buhay Rizal to our modern times. "Rizal is my hero, next to my father", Mayor Duterte said as he considers Rizal a man of principle. The Mayor also gave importance to Rizal's values and definitely did not miss on the part of the "many women of Rizal" which he said he could very much relate as the crowd laugh. 

The Davao City Mayor was very thankful to the Yuchengco Group of Companies on the enhancement of the Rizal Shrine in Davao and is looking forward to the beginning of this partnership.

December 1, 2008 - An Evening With Ms. Helen Y. Dee

The YGC Council Davao welcomed the arrival of YGC Chairperson, Helen Y. Dee. A simple gathering was held at the Marco Polo Hotel last December 1, 2008. The Council, headed by Ms. Armela Santiago, gatherd all the YGC Council members to join Ms. Helen Y. Dee for dinner as Fernan Pajera serenaded the whole group. 

After dinner, the YGC Chairperson spoke to each member of the council as they introduced themselves. Looking at the interest of the whole group, Ms. Helen Y. Dee asked everyone the financial performances of his or her respective areas and most of all, she wanted to know the "Synergy at Work" in YGC Council Davao. She asked each member of how much business or clients have they referred to their other member companies for life and non-life insurance, loans, deposits, credit cards, and many others. The YGC Chairperson believes in the "Power of Synergy" as she requested for the cooperation of all members in supporting the business of the members of the group.

December 1, 2008 - Davao Christmas Tree Lighting

For the first time, the Davao City Mayor lighted their Christmas Tree at the Plaza with special guests. Yearly tradition of Davao showed the Mayor lighting the Christmas tree but this time, he surprised YGC as he invited YGC Chairperson Helen Y. Dee and Malayan Insurance President Yvonne Yuchengco to join him on this rare occassion. 

With children singing and music playing, the crowd cheered and welcomed YGC as they arrived at the Plaza. Ms. Helen Y. Dee, Ms. Yvonne Yuchengco, Mayor Duterte and the rest of the YGC officers posed at the Rizal Shrine in Bolton Street which YGC promised to enchance. 

The crowd shouted their countdown as the Christmas Trees in the whole Plaza were all lighted. A tremendous and memorable experience indeed for YGC as the Dabawenyos honored and accepted them in the premiere city of the south.

November 28, 2008 - MICO Pabingo

MICO Pabingo was held on Nov. 28, 2008 with an objective to raise funds and support the Buhay Rizal Values Campaign. A total of 411 employees participated enthusiastically in a night filled with excitement and winners. 

This is only one of the activities that MICO has lined-up in support for the Buhay Rizal project. 

Similar activities are also expected from other YGC companies.

November 14, 2008 - MOA signing in Iloilo

November 11, 2008 - MOA signing in Baguio

YGC partners with Baguio City on the enhancement and beautification of the Rizal Shrine located at Burnham park. This partnership was sealed last November 11, 2008 as Baguio City Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. signed the Memorandum of Agreement with YGC Chair, Helen Y. Dee and RCBC's President and CEO, Lorenzo Tan at the Baguio Country Club. This project comes very timely for the local government of Baguio as they commemorate their centennial celebration on December 30, 2008 with a newly-renovated Rizal Shrine.

October 24, 2008 - MOA Signing with Principals

YGC partners with public schools for the Rizal Books Program. The Yuchengco Group of Comapanies (YGC) recently parnered with 22 public high schools in Metro manila to be the beneficiaries of a program to donate 22,200 copies of Noli Me Tangere to thier students. The book drive is the initial component of the conglomerate's new multi-sector campaign called "Buhay Rizal", which seeks to honor the greatness of Jose Rizal and inculcate his values and teachings among the youth and the general public.
